A graphics processing unit (GPU) is a hardware chip designed to optimise graphics operations such as rendering images in gaming. GPUs apply parallel processing to multiple streams of data simultaneously and have proved useful in data-procesisng applications beyond graphics, notably in neural networks and other AI algorihms.
